Embracing the Gift of Exhortation for Personal Growth and Community Impact

I grew up in an environment where words held little value for me due to numerous disappointments during my childhood. People often spoke well but their actions did not align with their words. Such behavior impacts a child more than many realize, leading them to grow up distrusting others and relying on their own interpretation of words. Little did I know, what I once disregarded was already part of God's plan to bless me with the spiritual gift of "Exhortation"!

In the context of the internet, exhortation refers to a form of communication—such as a speech, discourse, or advice—that emphatically urges, encourages, or advises someone to take action. (Vocabulary.com)

In the Bible, exhortation refers to a powerful, personal appeal or encouragement intended to bolster a believer's faith, provide comfort, or motivate them to follow a godly path.

In Romans 12:8 (NIV), Paul discusses:  if your gift is encouragement, then encourage others; if it is giving, do so generously; if it is leadership, lead with diligence; if it is showing mercy, do it with cheerfulness.

For me, my gift is "Encouragement," which plays a central role in exhortation.

This implies that I need to speak to bring encouragement to life. I thought, really God, you've given me a gift I didn't believe in. But it's clear, as Paul states: Romans 8:28 (NIV) - And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

To explore the Bible further, a Christian leader named "Barnabas" played a significant role as a mentor and missionary companion to Paul. Known as the "Son of Encouragement," Barnabas was recognized for his character, actions, and ministry in the early church following Pentecost. God utilized him as a leading encourager, bridge-builder, and leader to help establish the early church, mentor the apostle Paul, and guide new Gentile believers.

I share this because it provided me with insight and encouragement to pursue this purpose! It inspired me because just as he used Barnabas to fulfill his purpose, he's using me in the same manner. I'm not alone!!

God is kind because He transforms our pain into healing. I understand this may sound a bit unusual, but from my experience, He has every right to do what He does because He is healing. The beauty in all this is that A Beauty of Words LLC will become a leading force in transforming lives through testimony and God's word.
